Swim Team

Q. Who can join?

All participating swimmers ages 5 to 18 years as of June 1st can join the team. The swimmer’s age for the summer swim season is determined by their age as of June 1st.

The Fields Club Swim Team is considered an Open Swim team. Residents in the Fields neighborhoods must be members of the Fields club to join swim team. If you are not a member of the Fields Club or live outside the neighborhood, you are welcome to register with an "out of club member fee" of $75 per swimmer ($150 family max).

Q. Is my child ready for Swim Team?

Our emphasis in summer league is to have fun while introducing your children to the world of competitive swimming. However, in order to ensure the safety of each swimmer, there are basic skills that a child needs before becoming part of the Fields Club Swim Team.

To join our team, your child is NOT expected to know every stroke, however, the requirements for all new swimmers are as follows:

A swimmer must be able to swim one lap of the pool (25 yards) either freestyle or backstroke unassisted in two minutes or less. The child should be potty trained and able to follow instructions.

If your swimmer does not meet the requirements, we offer a Junior Swim Program to get them ready for the swim team.

Q. What is the Junior Swim Program?

The Junior Swim Program is a program specifically for children ages 5 to 8 who are interested in learning beginning swim technique with the optional (but encouraged!) goal of continuing on to swim with the Fields Club Swim Team. The Jr. Swim Program meets 3x a week and is designed for those new swimmers not yet able to swim 25 yards unassisted, or for those swimmers who can make 25 yards but need to build up endurance or extra stroke work before joining swim team. This program is not intended to be swim lessons.

The small groups focus on beginner stroke technique while improving confidence and endurance. Our goal is to support and encourage our young swimmers while helping them build the skills required to participate in a Fields Club swim team meet.

Once the coaching staff determines they are ready, junior swimmers are eligible to practice with the swim team and participate in swim meets.

Q. What is the Cost?

Cost is determined by number of participants per family and the ages of the participants. Plus, there is an additional nonrefundable Gwinnett county fee per each swimmer. Registration includes a team shirt and swim cap.

  • First swimmer is $180 ( + $25 Gwinnett county fee)
  • Each additional swimmer living in the same household is $160 (+ $25 Gwinnett county fee)
  • Swimmers 15 years and older is $60 (+ $25 Gwinnett county fee)

Note: If you are a non-member of the club, there is an additional $75 per swimmer (capped at $150 max per family).

These costs do not include credit card processing fees which may increase at the processors discretion and will be passed on to participants.

Q. My child is unable to attend morning practices are there other options?

To provide flexibility for our swim families, practices are held in the morning as well as the evening each week, however morning practices are encouraged, since the pool is also open to the Club guests in the evening.

Q. What Equipment is needed?

Team Swimsuit – one piece for girls; jammer for boys. Preferably each swimmer will have a team suit. If your swimmer does not have a team suit, a solid black or green or royal blue suit is recommended.

Goggles are required for all swimmers. A back-up pair is recommended.

Team swim caps are encouraged for ALL meets and is provided to each swimmer with your paid registration.

Q. What are the family volunteer requirements?

During the regular season, each family is required to work 1/2 of every meet your child participates in. If you do not volunteer your child may be removed from the meet. Please reach out if there are conflicts.

If your child qualifies to attend the County Championship Meet, you will be assigned a volunteer job.

Q. How can I get additional instruction?

Stroke instruction is available and highly encouraged throughout the season to help further develop skills. Instruction is provided by our coaching staff at an additional cost and outside of regular practice times.

  • Stroke instruction can cover specific strokes, dive starts/finishes and/or turns in a one on one setting.

Additional contact information can be found under the “Our Team” tab, “Private Stroke Instruction”.
